Eat Baking Soda
It is not the most pleasant-tasting remedy, but a spoonful of baking soda can help keep heartburn at bay. Also known by its scientific name, sodium bicarbonate, baking soda is a base material which may help efficiently neutralize any stomach acid which makes its way to your esophagus. Mix a half teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water and drink as needed. But don’t exceed more than 3.5 tsp of baking soda every day and stop its use completely after one week; since it is technically a salt, baking soda may cause unwanted symptoms like bloating or nausea.
Studies have shown that chewing sugar-free gum half an hour after a meal may provide heartburn relief. The logic behind this treatment is that since chewing gum stimulates your salivary glands, it may be used to maximize your body’s saliva production. This additional saliva can help dilute and wash out any stomach acid that has built up in your esophagus.
Drink Aloe Vera Juice
Ingesting a half a cup of aloe vera juice before meals can stave off any possible heartburn. When stomach acid reaches the esophagus, it creates inflammation that is responsible for the titular burning feeling. Aloe vera contains anti-inflammatory properties which could help sooth any irritation brought on, bear in mind that aloe vera is also regarded as a natural laxative, so use this treatment sparingly.
Maintain Proper Posture
Lying down after a big meal results in the contents of your stomach having extra pressure on your esophageal sphincter, which may result in stomach acid leaking through. Stay vertical at least three hours after a large meal, and try propping yourself with extra pillows when you go to bed to stop heartburn while you sleep.
Prevent Trigger Foods
There are a few foods, like those which are highly acidic or hot, that are more likely to cause heartburn than others.
